Aunties
Auntie Suzan was in our area for work and a bit of an extended vacation, so we were able to have a lovely visit with her for the entire day on Thursday! Auntie Suzan brought a gift for the boys - wonderful wooden puzzles that we will enjoy this summer; and for Gabriella, a birthday gift! Gabi didn't quite rip the gift open, but over the coarse of a few minutes and us putting the gift in her face, she finally got it open! A so cute Ralph Lauren dress that she'll be able to wear next summer! (Aunt Suzan bought an 18mo size thinking very well most children wear a size bigger than they actually are at this age... but not my babies! But that's okay, next summer it will fit perfect!)

Thanks for the visit Suzan, we are delighted that we have seen you three times in the last 18 months!

Final Days with May and Ellen
Last Wednesday we sadly said goodbye to Ellen and May - in our last days together we did a number of things, some of which were on a list that we compiled "to do before the girls go home"...
on Sunday we went to a Children's Festival - here they are looking at "the" Aquarium's booth
one of the gifts we gave the girls early in order to pack it in their very full suitcases, was this burnt CD of popular music they got to enjoy here and a huge Enchanted poster to take home and colour:
on that list of "to do" things, was to bake a cake together from the new cake book I got for my birthday - we were going to do it for Jason's birthday but couldn't since we went away that weekend, so on Monday we did a Purse cake and took it to share at Grandma's house that night
and another thing was to have another PJ Pizza Picnic with movie in our living room - we did that the last night here, with KFC instead. Funny how something so simple can make an impact!
Ellen and May gave us all gifts too - here is Gabi's gift from May, a TY Racoon - an animal she went crazy about while in Canada!
so Goodbye my girls! I have already spoken to them on the phone since they went to Toronto for 5 days first before heading home... poor girls, wish I could just keep them here!
So the room is empty and we are preparing now for another two girls to arrive on the 12th.

Our Venture Out
Last weekend we made a last minute decision (based on weather) to head over to the Island for 3 days of beautiful pure fun! (this particular route is on sale until the end of June, making it really affordable or at least justification to spend the money to cross over!) It happened to be Jason's birthday weekend and Father's Day - so it was well timed. This area has been known as the Island's Riviera - the ocean water was warm! I was completely shocked and delighted! We stayed in a camper-cabin (like a cabin at a Children's camp, I guess) that slept 8 - that was the tricky part in finding a place to stay was housing all 7 of us for a reasonable price. This was perfect...and cheap! Here's some photos:

we walked to a Nature House where there were questions and information about sea life, other animal facts and stuffed animals... tree frogs...this is a stuffed squirrel
this RV Resort had a games room with movie night, trampolines, swings, zip line... this is the girls first time on a trampoline, they loved it!
mmm, pancake breakfast on Father's Day -
a deer came through and unfortunately May missed it, she is crazy about deer. She even missed the other 3 we saw on our drives too
that afternoon we drove out to a few sightseeing places, and this marsh was one of them; it's a bird sanctuary - which of course is hit or miss and we unfortunately didn't see any birds but the area was just beautiful - Happy Father's Day, Daddy!
then we went to some caves that you can access - Jason took turns taking in the boys and the girls had a turn to go in... it was very dark and could be dangerous - I couldn't believe the cold air coming out of the cave opening. Very cool
roasting marshmallows
and on Monday, our last day, we went to 'the market with goats on the roof' - such a fun store
last stop before the Ferry, one more time to beachcomb and wow, this was a great pick. In my life I have found less than 5 sand dollars that were perfect (not broken)... well, this was sand dollar heaven... we found baby ones, black ones, you name it- it was wonderful! I love sand dollars and I think the rest of the family found a love for them too that afternoon! Here is a baby starfish Jason found and a crab May is holding

June Celebrations
Last week Sunday we got together with my Family to celebrate my Mom's birthday, Jason's birthday and Father's Day - Elijah was quite into finding some gifts for Grandma, including these birthday hats! Notice all the gifts to be opened? The girls were also very much into having a gift or multiple smaller gifts for everyone... so there ended up being a lot of gift bags to open!

11 months
For my sake for later on this is what she is up to:
- got her second bottom tooth in early May
- took 3 steps to me on May 22nd and continued taking more steps a week later or so ~ now she walks as much as she can to about the maximum of 12 steps before plunking down due to lost balance or walking into or over something
- she said 'Mama' for the first time on the ferry home on May 31st
- she will say 'all done' sometimes, and otherwise signs it
- she tries to say words that we say to her "say___" and she'll try, with the syllables and sometimes the sound - like the word 'more', she has got out
- she eats basically anything we give her. she doesn't have the luxury of not tasting anything sweet or salty (junk food) after her first birthday - she's tasted it all so far

Ferry
On the weekend we made a long-overdue trip to visit my grandparent's! Yea! It was a most beautiful day to travel over on the ferry and spend the remainder of our time on the Coast beachcombing. Here's a peek at our day.

Here's my Grandma, 92.5 years old, and going strong! She stayed alert for most of our visit. She hugged Elijah's Curious George the entire time and just loved the attention from her great-grandchildren!
My Grandpa, also 92.5 years old. Smart as a whip still! He remembered us and even remembered a job Jason had in the past when he'd come to their neck of the woods on sales calls! I was very impressed!
Then we headed to the beach, first to BBQ some burgers and then play:
Ellen and May spotted this starfish first, how cool!
we found all sorts of sea life in these tidal pools: crabs, oyster shells, barnicles, teeny fish... the crabs were a hit for the girls and Elijah finally held one too

From this beach location we went to the wharf and down into the marina to look at all the boats and where I used to fish with a homemade rod with my Grandpa! To my surprise, as soon as we walked onto the wharf I ran into Emily- a friend of mine from this City that my Grandparent's live in! Crazy!
We spotted and followed this school of fish for a bit - it was really neat to see them all turn at the same time
there was a little girl fishing for shiners on the dock (her Dad was paying her 10c a fish; the fish were for their crab nets) and so she offered Elijah a turn with the rod
What a GREAT day! I think that was more than just a peek into our day, but there are just so many photos - I shared only a glimpse but still nearly 15 pictures!
